I am finishing up this blogger blog for my friend - http://www.bkate.com.

I am fine with the design, but I am concerned with load times (possibly due to scripts or shared hosting).

I have run tests on the website speed testers, but I want to have a human review.  Will you have a click and let me know how everything loads for you?

Feel free to give advice if you see anything.  The site is hosted with blogger's hosting.

When going to site in FF load times works fine but in IE the site takes a bit of time to load the images and links maybe use gzip compression to speed things up. try this code

Loads fast enough for me, the only delay I really noticed (looking at status bar) , was loading the rss feed.

Normal load time to me via cable modem.

You can speed things up by:

- Reducing the size of the main image (27k)

- Remove all the junk in the blogger template that's not needed. Save a copy first just in case you need to figure things out later.

-Compress the HTML with something like Absolute HTML Compressor(free). It makes the code look bad, but you would be surprised at the difference this can make is speed is an issue. Find a site that will show load times and try a before and after.

I do use this code.

It is also being used here on this forum by nameslot too.

But if you are using GZIP then don't use this and if you use this then disable GZIP. otherwise it will give junk characters at the starting of the page.

at 14.4K it takes 60.54 seconds
at 28.8K it takes 31.37 seconds
at 33.6K it takes 27.20 seconds
at 56K it takes 17.20 seconds
at ISDN 128K it takes 6.79 seconds
at T1 1.44Mbps it takes 2.60 seconds

Thank you all for your helpful posts and advice. After looking at your tips and reviewing the test scores, I would like to try and cut everything in half. I hope to optimize this week and I will post back for another review.
