No I cannot laugh or even smile after 3 days that were not so good.

I just wanted to say that I am really sorry that the forum was not online. It all happened so fast and I was right there and could not do anything about it. I still don't know exactly what had happened and why it went down.

Was told by one friend today morning that cpanel is now installed. So I went in and it again took me 3 hours to bring the site back online.

Nothing is lost. No data what so ever.

Thanks for all of your support. Special thanks to those who gave a call and sent emails to me.

In somedays I will forget all of it. Right now head is paining.

Actually it is my fault:blushing:The server back-end has to be kept up-to-date to help keep the bad guys out, just like your home computer. Recent updates messed-up DNS-tables (used to tell domains apart on server), so site was down. When, and if, issues arrise, backups of data and databases are made atleast once per day, and most days more often - just incase. Took both me and cPanel staff 3 days to get it all fixed back. But all appears fine now. As I have a life outside this place, and run multiple servers, had to squirm around the technical ends/issues. But, hope you all will forgive the downtime. So SORRY:smirk:

Thanks for dropping by. In fact I was feeling sorry that I had to inform you about it. I know it doesn't feels any good when unwanted work just comes in.

I got some emails telling me that many people are still seeing the cpanel default page. I am hoping that it will correct itself as the time passes by. Maybe DNS propagation issue.

I suspect it is a combo of that (ISP caching) and an issue with "www" verses non-"www". The master server keeps wanting to point it to an IP# that is not on the server nameslot.com sits on. Some folks may be getting bit by the bugger's cashing of the user's IP# and it showing them that cPanel page (which is the invalid IP# result). Working to fix this. ISP's caching it, I can't solve but time will.

Yes, it's been a lonely few days. Namepros is ok, but it's just not as satisfying as Nameslot...!

On one small forum that I admin on, I delete ALL the files under the admin directory unless I am working on the site, then I upload them again.

The reason is that hackers got in once and trashed some of the site. I was able to fix it all, but since then I don't keep the admin files loaded...

Believe me our server is the best one that I have ever seen. Plus I am always right on with this site. We will not let you down. Your words are encouraging me much more then I have felt before. Members are the main pillars of any forum. Plus the admin himself should also pay some attention to the forum. A member less forum is just another piece of script. A admin less forums is just another piece of script for spamming and trashing.

No matter what I will get this forum of ours shine even if it takes me a lifetime.
