Cool  Hey Hey

Hi All,

Am relatively new here. Looking to launch my first official business in the iminent weeks and hopefully be taken out of working for people. Am going to be providing web design, seo/sem, marketing, advertising consultancy and optimisation. I have been working online for 9 years and the last 3 spent working with blue chip advertisers across the world.

I am not here to promote myself (yet) but would like to introduce myself, and gain your thoughts and feedback and any support you may be able to give as I'm very scared and more than a little nervous.

Anyway, I shouldn't babble,

Sam

RE: Hey Hey

Hi Sam,

It's going to be scary, and that's good becuase it will help to keep you out of trouble. Some people rent an expensive offer, print up 20k business cards, and hire a person to answer the phones, all before they have clients. Most people can't and shouldn't do that.

But if you have the ability to make customers happy, then the main thing I can tell you as someone with my own business as an Internet consultant (SEO mostly) for about 5 years, is to plan on working a lot, and doing marketing/advertising when you are not working on client projects. When you get paying work you can easy off on the marketing, but when the work slows don't spend the time at Youtube.com, but work on things that will get you more business.

Good luck,
Chris
