Hello friends what is DMOZ?. Every body say submit your site in DMOZ. But how can I submit my site in DMOZ.
I only know that DMOZ provides a lot of search results for a good percentage of the most important search engines and directories, including Google.

The DMOZ link is useful as it's results are really being displayed on 1000's of sites across the internet.

Now for example. You said google.com's own directory.

Also see the exactseek.com's directory.

And so on...

So this gives you lots of backlinks from many sites across the internet.

Wondering why this is all not considered as duplicate content and link farming.

Humm... I understand It's really nice but how can I add my site in DMOZ?
Any idea?

First of all find the best category for your site.

Then suggest your site in that section.

Use perfect spellings and grammer.

Try to describe the site as much as possible in one or two sentences max.

And don't use the existing meta description thing in the description form.

Yes I know but they can approve new sites?
I already submit my article site http://www.vavk.com but I think they reject me.
Why I don't understand.

No they might not have rejected you.

On the contrary they might not even have reviewed you yet.

The backlog of work is so much that it takes a while to get reviewed.

And yes if you site is new and doesn't have much content and is not an established site then it will be a tough call.

The DMOZ takes awhile to actually register your site, I put mine in about a month ago and I'm still not sure if im seeing results from it.. Just make sure you DONT double submit! It will delete your original entry

I have submitted this site 14 months ago. Still waiting..........

And another site was submitted in 2003 which is also waiting.

DMOZ can be VERY difficult to get into. Do some searches on the topic in Google and you should find a lot of information.

Here are my comments on DMOZ. Some is a repitition of what Nameslot said:

1) You need to have a good site, not something that is like many others. Your article site seems nice, but how many others also look like it and have the same articles? I don't know how much of a factor this is, but the more you can do to make your site different from others the better it will be.

2) Find the best category for your site, where you should find other sites like yours and submit there. FOLLOW THE POSTED RULES. Look at other listings and see how they are written. If you can write in the same style, the editor will have to do little or no work. If the editor does not have to do any work on your listing, they will APPRECIATE that.

Write a good description, and use many keywords if you can, BUT make it good English!!!

My secret tip: At the end of your description, THANK the editor! Just a short "Thank you!" tells the editor you know they work hard and that you appreciate them. You should use this tip on ALL submissions that are reviewed by an editor.

3) Submit your site and then forget about it for 3 months! If you are not listed, check the DMOZ forums and post a polite message to see if you can find out what the status is. If you can get an answer, you can also ask the reason for any rejection. Sometimes you can change things and re-submit, other times your site just may not have what you need to be accepted.

4) After 6 months, I would just submit again, but I would mention at the end of your description that you first submitted 6 months ago and did not see your listing. Be polite always! :-)

5) If this does not seem to work, one thing you can try is to find another category that your site can appear under. This may not be possible, but there are some topics where sites could be found in more than one place. For example an article site could possibly be found under "Media" or "Marketing". It just depends on how you look at the site sometimes. If the category you submitted to does not have an editor, or the editor is lazy, it could take years to be reviewed. They don't like it when you submit to more than one category, but if you can find a category that is appropriate, I think it is worth the risk.

Just keep trying and remember that DMOZ is worth the effort. But it's also not the end of the world if you don't get listed there.
