How is the domain name industry faring?

The Business Journal of Phoenix: Domain Names Sales Hit Sizzling Price

Apparently, GoDaddy.com has maintained its lead in the industry. Some of the statistics from the article are staggering!

"The company adds a new domain every 1.3 seconds... total portfolio to more than 20 million..."

Any thoughts on this? What do you use for a domain registry service? I worked with a small company once that used GoDaddy for domain registry and hosting.

I think GoDaddy has established its brandname very strongly in this market. Moreover they are really managing customer's domains even if there are staggering number of domain names registered at their registry.

For me the customer support has always been good.

My old boss told me that they would never use GoDaddy because he said that the customer service that he received was horrible o_O Well, he was an a**hole so he probably deserved it.

RE: How is the domain name industry faring?

If given a choice between your boss and GoDaddy I would take GoDaddy's side as I have been with them from some years and had never been into any troubles. I once needed customer support for a hosting account I had with them and I was replied in email within 3 minutes. Right now I don't have that hosting account as some of my scripts were not compatible with the given hosting environment so had to move.
