RE: Link exchange is note more effective now
Pranavbhat,
It is fine to ask questions, but I think it would be good if you tried to find the answers to your questions on your own first, and then ask here if you can't find the information. :-)
Two resources that I use all the time are Google, both for normal searching and also using things like "define:press release".
The other great resource is Wikipedia.
Using things like this to do research will do two things: 1) They will keep you from asking questions that most of the other people already know (and some grumpy people don't like having to repeat the same thing to new people.) And 2) you will generally find much more information on the topic than you can expect others to explain to you.
Doing a little research may also allow you to return to the forums and provide information that we may not know.
I hope you don't take offense from this comment, I only wanted to let you know that you can find out many of the answers yourself and that most of us are glad to help with things that are more difficult to learn.

RE: Link exchange is note more effective now
I know that article submission and press release will help but i want to know view of NS members as reciprocal links are really not beneficial?
then go to article submissions or press releases this way, links will come in handy

RE: Link exchange is not more effective now
Dear pranav if you have queries for press releases you can start a new thread in Help wanted section. Thanks.
Back to the topic on hand. Jignesh I think the reciprocal linking is dying slowly. The sites that I owned which depended on reciprocal links are showing a huge downfall in SERP's and Pagerank too. The one way linked sites are still in the market and performing as they should. :)

RE: Link exchange is not more effective now
I cannot say something rock solid because somethings might work for me and not for you. If it is possible for you to provide me the URL then I can check out the site and if possible then I can make some suggestions.
Still some basic questions also if you can answer them.
- Backlinks? Relevant backlinks? One way backlinks?
- Content? - Unique content?
- Competition?
Thanks.

RE: Link exchange is not more effective now
I heard that Google has gotten a lot more strict with its policies towards PageRank.
Has your website lost some of its PageRank or have the increases in PageRank steadily declined? If the PageRank on the website has decreased, maybe we can figure out how it happened... maybe Google itself has some advice on the new PageRank guidelines.

RE: Link exchange is not more effective now
A press release is an improbable way of promoting a site, isn't it? I doubt that you would be able to get a real press release in mainstream media for an average website.
My familiarity with press releases tells me that you must have something newsworthy to merit a press release that would actually be of any real value. I suppose if you are an original researcher and have very unique content for your website, you may be cited as the source for a news article or warrant a real press release, but I really cannot see any major news media outlets paying any amount of time to a press release unless you are talking about some sort of major development.
Anyway, jignesh, would it be possible to explain what website and its industry which you are having trouble garnering PageRank for?
