First of all congratulations for making your website. You are warmly welcomed in this class where 40,00,000 other websites are already established. Yeah, it seems like I am discouraging you rather then giving you the abracadabra of gating traffic for your site. But this is the fact. Some time ago I met a Webmaster who has started his own forum. After marketing his site for 3 months he had 16 members on his forum. Out of which 4 user names were from his family and cousins, 3 user names were his school friends. The remaining 2 accounts, one was not activated and had 0 posts and the only one genuine account holder who had made one post was asking for help in German language which the webmaster him self didn't understand. It's depressing, I know and it’s the truth about online marketing.

Getting noticed online needs for better techniques then SPAMMING people and telling your friends to come and visit your site, plus spamming people is a crime. So watch out for that one. First of all ask your self that if this site was not owned by you then what would bring you here and make you browse it. What does your site has to offer. Is it offering an easy way for your visitors to access the information? If your website needs some change after reading the previous two lines then make it. Because getting 100 new visitors a day is easier when you have 50 returning users everyday.

After this is done select a key phrase that best describes your site. Try to stick to the theme rather then going off-track with reading other things and tweaking your site with the tip, which has worked for someone. His site might be selling shoes and your site might be about security and loopholes in I.T. Sector. While still keeping with the theme of your website write a bunch of things related to it. Create some smart articles and post it. Keep on doing this for some-time and check your website stats to see the difference. The problem that most sites don't get traffic is because their owners don't spend time properly in marketing it. If you are sure about getting traffic then it doesn't matters even if there are 1,00,00,000 websites competing with you. Your site will get its share of hits.
