I got int being a webmaster when I was working as a night porter in a youth hostel. Basically from the hours of 12.30 - 08.00 the plce was dead. So, I got to reading the online stuff and learned from there. :)

I would be inclined to agree that the background of the site is rather eye straining. Maybe you could change it to an off white or similar. Other than that, your site does load very quickly, and the template is clean and easy to use. Good job.
