Hi Friends,

I had placed a "Backorder" for a Domain Name through Godaddy.com
They charged me close to $17 for it.

When I placed the Backorder, the Domain Status was " Redemption Period" but the Registrant Contact showed the name as "Pending Delete".

Now, the Status of the Domain Name has changed from "Redemption Period" to "Pending Delete"

Status: pendingDelete
Updated Date: 17-oct-2007
Creation Date: 06-aug-2004
Expiration Date: 06-aug-2007

Do you think Godaddy's Backorder system is weak. Till now I have been using "Snapnames.com" and/or "Pool.com" for Backordering domain names and had been quit successful.

Do you guys feel Godaddy's service would not be competitive enough to match with Dedicated backorder services of Pool.com and Snapnames.com - its just that the others charge an amount close to $60 for backorders.

Please advice.

Hi,

GoDaddy's backorder sevice is not good.

They cannot even capture domains registered at GoDaddy.

Also, you have to pay up front.

There is no refund if they don't capture your domain. But you can place another backorder without paying.

SnapNames, Pool and NameJet cost more
but you do not pay anything up front.

If you really want to use GD for backorders, then you should join
their wholesale division called BlueRazor.

There's a $9.95 fee to join but backorders are just $12.95.

A second opinion here..almost in-line with the first. AVOID Godaddy back-orders. Like said, they catch very little, even with companies they partner with.

I've never had any luck back-ordering domain names via GoDaddy.

Don't do it, you will most likely waste your money and not get the name you want.
