Computer sound creeping into audio signal??
I posted this earlier in Keys & Synths but think folks here might have some insight. Any thoughts greatly appreciated!
With my M-audio Firewire 410 connected to either powered monitors or amplifier via analog outputs I can hear the inner workings of my computer humming away through the monitors / amp. If I use the digital output to the monitors the computer sounds disappear but that is not an option for the amplifier (no digital inputs). I think this has to do with using the bus-powered (6 pin) firewire cable in hooking up to my desktop. I do not recall the same problem when I was using a laptop with non-bus powered (4 pin) firewire cable. Unfortunately the only desktop firewire port is bus-powered... SO, I am pretty sure the 6 pin connection is the problem. Question is now, what can I do about it? The firewire on the motherboard is VIA (not TI), could that be the prob? Could I solve it by puttting in a separate TI firewire card (if I can even find one)? Would switching to a newer USB audio interface be the smarter move? Or is that likely to have the same issues?? Anyone with similar experience?
