Nowadays many websites are coming up with new and big SEO contests.
It all started on May 7th 2004 when SearchGuild sponsored the nigritude ultramarine challenge.
And then what it spreaded like a fire engulfing the whole webmaster community in it.
The SEO contest sponsor declares a keyword and then the SEO's start making sites and blog related to the theme of that particular keyword to get the better position then their competitors.
Prizes are Big. Stakes are high.
Rules are simple. Get on top position of the search engines for the given keyword, with your site or blog at the end of the competition.
On the date of contest ending whoever is on top position wins the contest. If there are more prizes like #2 and #3 to be given then other places are also decided by the judges. [In most cases this is the contest starting website itself]
Some contest only give google.com as a target. While others look at the Google, Yahoo and MSN all 3 search engines and then their aggregate data decides who is the winner of the current seo contest.
