It seems the only way to protect yourself is to make sure you get the money and that it's not going to be taken away later if it turns out a stolen credit card was used.

OMG !!!!!!!!

This is so sickening.

I think the best way to do a Domain Name sale is either Through Sedo.co.in or through Escrow.com

Remember, Escrow.com has a specialized Solution that they offer for Domain Sales ( https://escrow.com/solutions/domain_name/index.asp )

And, if Paypal refunds money instantly and starts an investigation later, why use Paypal.

Use Escrow.com and opt for "Payment through International Wire Transfer"....... thats the safest way.

Escrow......... verifies the Buyers details before letting a buy transaction begin and again verifies...... when the Buyer sets the purchase value.

Plus,

When you receive an email inquiring for a domain name.......... do a google search for the email address of the Buyer.

Hope the info helps.

Well what can you say.... in this world things like this happens, that's why there's middle man charging a high percentage, so you will feel more safe when trading.

Thanks for posting those links. I had 2 LLLL.com's stolen from me as well. Domain name scams are down recently but we should never let our guard down. Always be somewhat suspicious and follow the forum threads for advice, tips and the latest scammers and the emails and aliases they use.

Yes Greengambler I know about that thread on DP. I myself was the offer maker on those both domains on NP but as they were sold we cancelled the deal and afterwards I saw that thread on DP about the buyer scamming you and I felt very bad about it all. I hope you give him a good ride ;)

LOL, I know I should have just sold them to you but I had already promised to sell them like 5 seconds before I got your message.. LOL As an update I did get my names back, if you read that last DP thread that the OP linked to you will see where I go back and fourth with a guy who just happened to end up with my names. He gave them back after I called him.. I'm glad to have them back in my pocession.
