I would like to discuss article and website rankings. In particular, I want to discuss a way in which you could easily improve your existing rankings.
It is important to always consider your search engine rankings not just for your articles, but also for your website. Believe it or not, getting your website ranked in the search engines can often times lead to just as much traffic as your articles.
Doubling up on your SEO efforts can lead to some amazing results!
If you are not familiar with the term "Get Free Backlinks" then hopefully I can shed some light on this SEO technique.
Essentially a back-link is exactly how it sounds...a link going from another site to your site/article. Basically a link from a page on one site to a page on another site.
Google likes sites that have many back-links because it is a main part of their ranking algorithm. It tells them that your site is popular because other sites link to it...and what does Google do in response to this.
It gives the "popular" sites high rankings in their search results. I will now cover two types of back-links that you should be be aiming for.
Get Free Backlinks to your:
* Articles
* Website pages
Step 1: Getting Article Back-links
For articles, the most common back-links are social bookmarks. You have probably heard of one or more of these...
Digg.com, Del.icio.us, Mixx.com, etc.
These sites allow you to post bookmarks on them, which are essentially a blurb of content associated with a link.
Basically what you want to do is register for these sites (one or more) and then add a "bookmark" to your article via there system. These bookmark sites carry a high rank in search engines and get visited often by search engine spiders. This can lead not only to your articles getting ranked higher, but also them getting ranked quicker.
What you should do is to choose THREE sites from the list of social bookmarking companies and create accounts with them. Then you will want to add a link on each of them to one of your articles.
Ideally you want the "anchor" text of your link to be the target search term for your article. Let's say you were linking from Digg.com to your ezinearticles.com article on "how to affiliate market with clickbank".
You would want "how to affiliate market with clickbank" to be the linking term at Digg.com.
*Note: You can also social bookmark pages within your website.
Step 3: An Easy Way to Get Free Backlinks to your website
So far, we haven't really considered SEO for your website....or have we? Actually, you have been subtly doing some SEO. By linking from Ezinearticles.com to your website you are gaining some "link juice" for the back-link you get.
For website pages, you can leverage articles directories to get free backlinks, thus improving your rankings.
It is important that you submit articles to high Page Rank, "Do Follow"
Article Directories:
"Do Follow" means that the article directories allow spiders to "follow" their links. This is required for it to count as a back-link and only certain article directories offer this. For instance, articlesbase.com doesn't allow them whereas ezinearticles.com does allow them.
Here is a good list of article directories that you can submit your articles to and get back-links:
PAGERANK 6
* http://ezinearticles.com/
* http://www.goarticles.com/
* http://www.selfgrowth.com/
* http://www.isnare.com/
You may want to add the occasional article to one of these sites. If you could add one unique article to all 14 of these that linked back to your site, you would be getting some excellent back-links.
