The domain name value depends on many factors. Some of the major factors are like its marketability, its pronounciation, its length, etc.
We will checkout some of the points below.
First Lets start with its Length. Due to the more and more registrations of domain names they are becoming more hard to get. Length of the domain name is counted by the number of characters it contains excluding the www. and the TLD part of it. It becomes a very effective factor when the length is smaller one.
Marketability of the domain name. Is the domain name good as a brand name? You can ask this question yourself and you will get some hints. If the domain name contains one word then it will fall in dictionary domains category and it will be a good choice to go with a day to day life word. If the doamin name consists of more then one word then don't go over three words. Average words used in the domain name can be two. Also watch out if the domain name is too confusing one. If it is easy to remember then it will be a good plus point in the total. Check that it doesn't has a Hypen or a number in it. It might decrease the over all value of the domain name. Also see that the domain name is not made up of spelling mistake, a typo. Using a domain name that perfectly describes the site it might be hosting on it would be a good one. If it is a brandable domain name then check that does that brand have any trademark issues. Check that is it connected to something popular but not branded. In last also check that the domain name has any market for it? And how big the market is. Before a decade mobile word didn't had that much target audience that it has right now.
Develoable or not. If the domain name is developable then it is a good sign. Some domains are highly developable and that kind of domain names can succeed if they are developed and there is a website hosted on it.
The TLD. See if there is enough awareness in the market for the particular TLD [Top Level Domain].
Some domains also do recieve type in traffic so also check this part. People tend to just type in the words that comes to their mind and are wishing to visit a site related to it.
If the domain name is developed one then check its link popularity, pagerank and SERP's for the keywords that it is targetting.
One part that remains is that in some cases the plural domain might be more valuable then the singular one. So this you can check it yourself that does it sounds good or is it just sounding awkward.
Also look around and get some stats for similar domain names that were sold in past. You will get some idea from it.
So now I think you might have got some idea about how to value your domain names.
