Validation/Error Checking

I have a form on a PHP page. It has 3 questions. I just want to make sure people fill out the 3 question(drop down options) before they can continue.

Whats the easist way to accomplish this. I would like to have a message appear that says "You need to select an answer for question #2".

In constructing website validation and error checking is one the most important issue. If someone can have not work at very carefully that spammer should make some kind of threat to your website. In case of form validation is not done careful than someone can enter unnecessary detail to your site and jam it.
