Infrared thermography is a great way of "seeing" heat energy that is at an energy wavelength that is below what the human eye can see. Infrared thermal imaging cameras available today can visualize the heat energy. The person performing the inspection must have an adequate working knowledge of the equipment they are inspecting as well as sufficient heat transfer theory training to interpret the thermal patterns they observe. The thermal imaging camera would next employ a series of mathematical algorithms.
