Advantage of PHP

I browse a lot of freelancing forums and I rarely see topics about ASP.

What is the main reason that PHP is more popular than ASP?

PHP is more popular the ASP because ASP scripts require Windows server which are bit costly as the softwares installed on that server are commercial.

While in PHP the Linux, MySQL, PHP engine itself all are free.
