Ok, I will make this short. I am proposing that the private members work together to create our own "parking page" for domains.

I'm not suggesting a company or service, but that we create a system that each of us can use as we like and are free to change it as well.

Advantages:

- Depending on the ads you have, you can drive traffic to your domains.

- You can run PPC search listings, affiliate ads, banners, ads for other domains, your site, and anything else you want to run.

- More money. If we can find good programs or search feeds, we should do as well or better than any service since we make 100% of the money.

- This doesn't just have to be for domain parking - I plan on using it as a custom 404 error page as well. This makes it useful to anyone with a site.

Issues

- Finding network ads that we can host on the pages. Adsense may be out, but Google does do parking page feeds. I have a searchfeed.com account and will be seeing if I can get their feed working on one of my sites. There are many other 2nd and 3rd tier search engines that should have what we want.

- Creating a page that will look good.

- Having a page with some "sections" for each type of advertising that we want to have.

- Selecting a ad serving program like phpadsnew (old name) that we can standardize on. This will allow the addition and rotation of different kinds of affiliate programs, or ads to promote other sites.

- Scalability. How much work will it be for a domainer with 50 domains or one with 2,000 domains?

- Does it need to manage different "groups" of domains or can that be handled by the ad server?

- If a domainer has 10 domains on the same topic, will he be able to host one and then "park" the other nine on the same domain? Can the pages each have their own information if they need to?

I'm sure there will be other questions, but this will get us started.

If there is a lot of discussion on one issue, let's start a new thread for it. The beauty of this idea is that we don't HAVE to do everything the same. The system should be flexible so that we can have a "standard" and you can change the parts that you want to if you want to experiment or just do something differently.

Thanks,
Chris

You are a mind reader. I was just looking into this thing 2 days ago. Did some homework on it. My main problem was to find the logic of parking a domain name automatically and pointing it towards its page. Selection of keywords and all the stuff was also second thing. I did read some books in hope to find the solution and atlast found one thing on sourceforge about httpd.conf

Most of the things are clear now. The rest is as usual just simple coding of interface. XML parsing and all that stuff is also easy one.

I loved your idea of making parts that the user can control. I did really liked that idea. Only one point that we need to think of is that if someone starts adult or illegal things in that part then we will need to monitor it. Because then we risk a blacklisting for all our I.P.'s connected to that system.

One more thing. I really appreciate your ideas and your huge support. Thanks :)

For the issues:-
- Finding feeds network. I think I will be able to get PPC feeds from mixcat as I am in middle of talks with them. They have just launched and they are looking for publishers and this will interest them more.

- Creating a page that will look good will not be an issue for us. As I think we will integrate a CSS templating system which they can append to the template. Something like which we see in the blogger accounts. Basic templates we will supply but for those who are looking for more they can work more and get the needed results. Moreover we will be getting SEO's interested in it due to templates which could be distributed freely or maybe charge money which will attract designers.

- Having a page with some "sections" for each type of advertising that we want to have will also be easy we can make something like block1, block2 etc. so that block remains intact but its position and style can be changed.

- Selecting a ad serving program I have worked on one like it before some months for a company and I still do have codes. We can use the main parts from it.

- Scalability. Work for a domainer with 50 domains will be more or less same then the work for a 2000 domains owner. Bulk upload can save time. Automatic detection of keywords can give them something to start along with option to manually specify the keywords at later time whenever they wish. Plus bulk nameserver updates are already there in most of the registrars.

- Groups of domains we can let the user specify them and then he can make bulk changes to it.

- If a domainer has 10 domains he can add all that 10 domains just in the box and set the Nameservers. All will be parked. If he wants to modify 1 domain and then copy the modifications across all other domains then we can give an option like copy style and apply style which will help them achieve this.

Thanks.

Great. I can see you are thinking more in terms of a parking service than I was. I was just thinking that someone would have a reseller account for hosting and create sites for each domain or each group of domains on a topic.

We'll have to get others involved and get more discussion going.

Humm... I think this thread has nothing to hide from public can we move this to the open discussion section so that other users can also take interest and share their ideas.

I am working on those feeds ideas right now. And am also creating layouts and then deleting them. but I know I will hit on some good one very soon.

Hello Guys.........

Its good to See something comming along again with u guys...

I was also intrested in the same sort of thing... You guys have a thaught.. But i did implemented my thaught..........

For whatver Questions you have  asked... i have the answers for everything.. there is a solution of whatever u have asked...

Domain Trader..

check this script and it has answer for everythign what we are planning.. The script is completely for domain parking... but as we aree planning to have Search xmx feeds.. It has support for everything.. We just need to put the Affialite id in xmx box and those companies feeds are displayed on domains.. For domain templates.. we could design as we want..... I mean .. it has every answer for what we are thinking and planning :D...

Infact www.way2parking.com  this was my website.. i started it 1 1/2 yr back with same script.... But i used for 8 months and i was not that good so sold it off... i just bought the script as they had some offered and i was planning to make my own parking site and have all my domains there.. but didnt worked out as we need quiet a lot knowledge... So i just sold it off.. but i know whatever i get into it. it never goes waste.. sometimes or the other it works out.. So you guys just let me know.. And check out the whole thing.. it has a demo and everything...

And if we want the script.. the owner of this script is my good friend so things we could work out..... But i assure u. it has everything what we are looking :D

thank you

I would have preferred that we keep this discussion to ourselves until we can make some dicisions about the different options...

The script that Sohil mentions looks very good, and if the templates can be modified that would be great.

But the cost is quite expensive for the small domainer to afford. I can't afford the open source version just for myself. I was hoping to have us create something that would be free and idea for smaller domainers like myself. I guess basically I was just looking to create a system that others could use to park their domains, and would provide most of the features but at the expense of the domainer having to have a reseller account and host the domains just like they would with a regular web site. There are other options for selling domains like http://www.domainportfolio.us/ which is free. Small domainers can use this if they want to sell their domains themselves and the parking system would only be for parking.

So we would provide a "plan" or outline on what to do, where to set things up, and recommend services like search providers to open accounts with.

I DO think that the more professionial system is great and worth doing as well. Perhaps we can have two efforts working towards this?
