I was looking or a travels agency and booking engine affiliate program that come with private label website of your own. I did found ian.com but then the structure and the design is looking too common to me. I have been researching some of the programs but nothing is worth it. If you know of any such program then please do let me know. About a travels affiliate program where I can run my own travels agency and it is 100% private label.

I think you are going to have the same problem with most affiliate programs that provide sites. I have one for phone cards though and despite the fact that the site looks pretty much like all the others it's working fairly well.

If you optimize the site well it should give you an advantage and if you then modify the design it should help even more.

As a side note, I think there is a real business opportunity for design companies to offer custom templates for sites like this. I might spend a little money to have a site that looks like 10 others rather then one that looks like 100 others... :-)

I did worked on Travels affiliate some months ago for one of my clients and used ian.com for it. But my client was a rich person and you know sometimes it is hard to handle them he wanted to mess with the code himself. :crying: I did warned him but he messed it all up  Now no more travels site for him. But what to do I did warned him atleast 3 times and he told me "Dude, I know what I am doing!!!"

When a client won't listen, there is not much you can do. Even if they discover you are right they may not admit it.

I think the best thing you can do is to put your concerns into writing, such as an email so that there is no question as to the advice you provided. And if you can make a backup of what they will be working on, it could make you the hero later on.

"Oh, that can happen even to experienced programers, but you can just restore the old files to recover from the error. Oh, you don't? Let me check, I think we may have a backup copy that will help get your site working again."

Yes :grinning-wink: I do have a backup but then he is still not admitting it and is saying that he loves the way it is right now. So I cannot even restore the original files. Maybe he will get it after some more months that it is not a good habit to show off just like that in front of programmers. You are right on that part that he is getting more and more stubborn on this one as he himself is now knowing that he made a mistake but is not ready to accept it. The link to the CSS is broken so the page is all looking like a bunch of text in one corner. Some links to the images is also broken the functions are not working and the booking engine has died completely, but he says he likes it the way it is.

Just wondering if you guys use subversion?

It can be a hassle to setup and get used to, but once you do it's very powerful - tagged builds, patches, diff e.t.c

I was very lazy at first in versioning of my scripts and projects. But soon I was in total mess when things needed to be added or edited in the scripts. EX: One of my commercial project which had been sold around 1000 copies of Version 1 was already out in the market. On it I released version 2 of it. And it was the first and the last time I went out without versioning.

Now I do track them with number and date along with comments here and there.
