What can I do to get indexed faster?

It is the wish of each and every webmaster that Google indexes their website. My need is to get my website indexed as quickly as possible. It could take weeks is what I have been told and I don’t that sort of patience. The Google webmaster tools can offer immense aid in this case and so I wish to use them. My sitemap should also be submitted as it will help me really well. These steps should be able to help me out is what I feel. I know just how important high quality backlinks are in this case. Any comments?
