even i got the same mail today,i had PM nameslot about it.
i think it is for those who are member here but not active since long time.

Sorry nielsencl it was my mistake. Today I was in Nameslot.com' adminpanel because admin told me send the email of that user whom comes on Nameslot and registired and do not active there account but by mistake I send this message all the members.

I am really sorry about that Nielsencl and regular user of Nameslot.

But this also proved to be a good call for many users. Some of the old users returned today.

No problem, I was just worried that a hacker had gotten in and was pusing buttons or something.

By the way, that is something we should all be aware of, is that as the forums get bigger they should be backed up on a regular basis. I don't think it's a matter of IF the forum gets hacked, only WHEN.

Now it may be that this forum code is really secure, but most forums are complex enough to have places that are weak.

I had Turks hack into one of my client's forum. They didn't gain complete access, but just enough to change some forum topics and drop in a bunch of junk posts about how powerful they were and how they owned us...! :-)

So now I just delete all the admin files from the admin folder when I am done working on the site. No more Turks. At least not yet... :-)

maybe admin grant him access, that is why he have access on it, as for the email I was also surprised to recieved this one

Hello :)

Yes I had been severely working on marketing the forums more and more.

So just thought to give this guy a real time experience. On how to manage the things without the admin and how to take care of situations.

But he told me instantly about the mistake.

I can understand that it might have been the mistake as he was using the control panel for the first time and there was some custom code from myside also included in the admin panel.

For tristan - Yes he had access to the admin panel. Because I looked for our super moderators to support me.

Nielsencl is the most busiest super moderator on this forum. And I didn't wanted to load him off with the work.

This upcoming guys offered me a hand in the work. So I had to give him his duties. Maybe he commited a mistake. But he honestly accepted it.

maybe another good thing is to send out an email again stating that the previous mail was intended for members not yet activated their account otherwise ignore the mail

LOL. =))

That would be a great idea. But people are already sending me emails that they have never registered on nameslot.com

Now if they haven't then why would we be sending emails to them.

Moreover in the content of the email I have already told jayesh to mention the line that "Maybe you or somebody using your email has registered on nameslot"

But still people don't get it right.

Nice idea Mann3r :)
