I found a website that allows folks to paist names and receive
automated appraisels by nameboy.com I wonder what people here
think of this service and the values on names their.

Here is one I had on one of mine:

The free service is here

I do think that here at nameslot there is a good balance when folks appraise
names just wondering how everyone feels about automated systems like nameboy?

I think if you just use one that they can be good in that they can give you some idea of the value of your domain. The problem is that like the appraisal that you listed, The actual values seems to be determined by someone that is taking powerful drugs. They are having a great time, but they seem to want to make you feel as good as they are, and so provide an inflated appraisal.

The bad thing about them is that they make people think their domain is worth much more than it really is. Then when they get an offer of $50 or $200, they don't take it. They look at the offer in the context of the $xxxx appraisal and not the $8 registration fee, and so are blind to the prospect of getting many times their investment in hopes of a future "jackpot".

I am not against any site which provides free appraisals but I don't trust them either. I am a programmer myself and I can imagine what code I would have written if I had made that kind of tool. Analyzing that imaginary code tells me that it is not going to be as good as an appraisal given by a human being.

If still the code want to be much more effective then it would need a inbuilt dictionary. The thesaurus data. Google search API to find the marketability of that industry. OVT checks, link popularity if it is a developed site, PR value, w3c check, etc.

Still the code cannot make assumptions on revenue and so I think it will be not a good appraisal.

But as you have mentioned it I would like to say "Thanks for sharing them" sometimes we can check them in free time, just for the sake of checking it.

this one is still in beta:

http://www.estibot.com/

It is still wildly off sometimes, but it's more accurate than the other automated appraisals I've seen.

Of course a truly accurate automated appraisal is currently impossible.
( I think some human appraisals are also not very accurate  )

i made 15 appraisals at nameboy.com they are look fishy to me i dont think they are even close of the domain real value 2 examples:

Appraisal Value of uswallet.com
- Dollar Value is $18187

Appraisal Value of canadawallet.com
- Dollar Value is $6471

No friend they are not correct. I wanted them to be correct you could have made nice money. But in real it is not true. You can yourself also imagine that the sum it is saying is not just right for the domain name on its own. Don't know if it is taking developed website or its data into consideration. But I checked your domain uswallet.com it is on sedo. So the automated appraisal tool is just making some mistake here. Or maybe it knows something that I am not knowing about your domains.

this i was saying too..:) anyway if i will make this amount of cash from these domains ,5% will be donated to this board promise :D

We have a member that is and there are a few that are really not too bad. However others are less than optimal, but could be used to create a site.

I think he received appraisals that were in the $xx to $xxx range, but is not able to sell them in the $x range. I think his appraisals were done by people on other forurms.

I wish the service was a little easier to use. I do not like having to give my email address to receive a link, and my spam filter usually does not let the email get near the inbox. Does it give you any of the data used to approximate the appraisal, or is it a purely monetary estimate?

Don't want to mention that how bad or how good it is. But It's a total time waste. Some points are taken into consideration but some are not. I think this article looks good about How to value a domain name But still a human appraisal is a human appraisal.

Someone mentioned in this thread that sometimes human appraisals are way too off. hehehhee. Yes that's right. But if some professional appraiser appraises it and is not afraid to tell you on your face that this domain name sucks then I would first go to that person and get my domain name appraised. Isn't it right?
