Can no-follow link give backlink?

Please tell me something about no-follow link. is it useful or not regarding seo?

No follow links are useful in any condition of SEO. Really links nofollow, link juice won't be, but is regarded as backlinks but does not work. We can use it if you provide more external links from our site, if we give them as nofollow and our desire to not pass link juice, which can save our classification.

In my own perspective no follow links from forums are not important because when Google crawls for it they will read it just text and not as a back links.
