Content for Websites!

hi,
I was just wondering is it ok to copy and paste content from other websites to our sites!!
I mean those sites which offer free content or those article directories which offer free content in return for a link back!!

What do you guys think on this??

I think it is just useless bunch of words and sentences as long as unique content is concerned.

The pages having that content, the copied content will most of the time go into supplemental results of the search engine index.

If would advice to write 4 lines but unique lines rather then copying 400 lines or syndicating 400 lines from free content providers.
