Do you chose folders or subdomains....

When you link different sections of a site do you choose to put them under folders or create them under subdomains?

My option is that I would put them under subdomains if the sections are too big.....
I would split them into subdomains only if they can be put independently and can be separated from the main content........

I use subdomains. can't figure out what kind of the content it is. if it is for images folder then i use folder but if the thing has its own category and theme then it comes in subdomain.

I would use subdomains and folders both and they can be choosed according to the situation that arises while programming the website.
