Hello Friends,
Today I am going to start a series of threads that will teach you something about domaining. All comments and opinions are most welcomed. Except giving bad words to me
Here is the first chapter.
What is a Domain Name
The domain name is the name that identifies a computer or computers on the internet. The domain names then appear as a part or whole in the Web site’s URL. For Example: http://www.Nameslot.com
Where Nameslot.com is the Domain name commonly referred to.
So in simple words they can be called as the names which is used for identifying the online resource by its name.
The most common use for the domain names is to make our lives easier by giving us the facility of remembering the online resource by its name. Imagine if you want to check your emails and the email service provider gives you an I.P. (Internet Protocol) Address something like. 219.64.81.182
And now imagine that you have to remember the I.P. of your school’s web site or your office web site.
According to human tendency we can remember the names very well compared to this given numbers. So we have Domains.
ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) is the main pillar supporting this huge structure.
