Pompano Beach, FL January 18, 2007 - Over $1.9 million changed hands yesterday during a Live Auction of premium domain names hosted by Moniker.com at the Internext Expo, the world’s largest adult business-to-business online and digital media event at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, Las Vegas. SheMale.com and BDSM.com were auction’s big sellers.
Eighty-eight names on the auction block were successfully sold during the three hour event. High profile domain names that were auctioned and purchased include:
shemale.com $520,000
BDSM.com $295,000
interracialsex.com $150,000
handjob.com $90,000
kinkysex.com $88,500
Teenmodels.com $80,000
gaypride.com $60,000
censored.com $58,500
submission.com $42,000
Blowjob.net was the highest grossing .net top-level domain fetching $11,000, while anal.org and SexCartoons.mobi earned $5,500 and $1,000 respectively.
“Having a marketable domain name is critical to the success of an individual’s online business,†said Monte Cahn, co-founder and CEO of Moniker. “Today’s auction proved that investors recognize the value of marketable domain names and treat them as true business assets.â€Â
Porn.com garnered bids up to $5 million, but failed to meet the domain name’s reserve price of $8 million.
This was the first Live Auction held during Internext Expo. Moniker’s three previous Live Auctions held at the T.R.A.F.F.I.C events netted more than $9 million and sold over 300 premium domain names.
The event coincided with a silent action that will continue until January 24, 2007 until 12 p.m. EDT. High profile domains such as porn.com, privacy.com, and sex.net are still available to the highest bidder.
