I recently acquired this domain, and would appreciate if anyone else had an idea as to it's potential value. Thank you in advance.

Misinterpreted - To understand incorrectly.

Dictionary domain, and its a .org

I don't know the exact range for .org but I checked its PR. Now that is why I am always telling people who need an appraisal that please mention its PR. So that the person who is giving its appraisal can get more info on that particular domain name and can base the appraisals more accurately according the to provided data.

Anyway the PR is 5. Domain age is 2.1 years. Backlinks not much and not a developed site.

I think this domain name can get around Low to Mid $xxx if you have a good deal.

Thanks.

I agree, the .org takes away a little, but the PR5 adds quite a bit. My concern would be that the PR may go away if they don't get a site on there soon.

Wow, this sounds like quite the find...

I would get a type of website on there as soon as possible. Like nielsencl said, you don't want to lose that valuable traffic and Google PageRank because there is no longer a website. You could redirect it to another website of yours.

I would say that this domain is in the $300.00 - $500.00 USD range based on the inherited traffic and Google PageRank alone.

Sounds great!

So will a formerly developed site, now parked, leak PR gradually, or suddenly lose it all at some point?

Will any content whatsoever preserve the PR? Would a redirect?

I'm really new to the idea of preserving a site, but it makes sense to me that the only way not to lose traffic or PR would be to upload a site similar enough to the former incarnation that new and old visitors alike don't notice a difference and sever all ties with it. Is that right?

PR is an indication of "value" and a large part of that is links. If the links to the site start to go away, that will decrease the PR.

But if all the former content is gone, then that should also hurt the site, since it's clear that the former "value" has changed. I don't think there is any clear way to tell what will happen to the PR, but I would never buy a domain based only on the former PR.

Having said that, if you can put a new site on the domain and make it a good one, the effect on PR might be less dramatic just as if the former site had undergone a massive upgrade. This might give you some good advantage over a new domain or one with little or no current PR.

Thanks for the advice!

Do you think the former owner might have a problem if I duplicate the previous format but post new material? Of course the owner's name wouldn't be anywhere on the site, but if some people think he's still using it, it could seem like a sort of identity theft. Maybe I'm making too much of this?

Did the "unavailable" page still prevent PR leak because it was better than a parked page?
