I have always thought that should SEO be a programmer himself? Sometimes I think I myself have an extra edge with some programming knowledge as I can do the things faster and better which I could not have done without programming knowledge. Plus time saving can be our best friend when it comes to SEO.

What are your thoughts on it?

If you are working as a SEO anad do have programming/coding knowledge (html, javascript etc....) surely this will help your site ranking faster
as you don't have to contact your developer everytime for changing code/design as per SEO trends, you can do it by your own and see the effect .Sometimes your developer may not get things you required and this can affect your site's view for search spiders.
As a successful SEO you should have basic knowledge of coding/programming ( html. javascript )

programmers life is easy then others as they can make softwares and scripts for their daily work and then they relax. others have to do that work again and again manually. programmers can get it done atleast semi-automatically.

They have to work hard for coding those scripts :crying: don't think it is an easy job.....sometimes they have to test certain codes thousands of time but still they don't get proper results.

My life as programmer was bit rough at first. But then I did got a habit of coding. And soon it became an obsession. Right now I cannot live without coding something new every week. I have to give the codes for free if it has to be. But I always like messing around in codes. Plus whenever there comes some nice brain bursting problem. I go out and bring in some food and then just go after it.

Well back to the point yes sometimes SEO and Programmer two things mix up very well. I would rather say "Should a Programmer also be a SEO?"

If you give a job to someone who is a web developer and he is developing your site then if he has some knowledge of SEO then he could base the code and the structure of site to be more SEO friendly rather then putting long tails queries in the URL and putting text that doesn't goes well at some places on the page effecting its onpage SEO side.

It is my experience that if we have programming knowledge than we can do batter in SEO. we can understand need in SEO and develop tool accordingly. some times small technical things give good weight to seo and as a programmer it is easy for u to understand those things and fix it.

There is no question that for any successful online business, a significant presence and high rankings in search engines like Google, MSN or Yahoo is a neccassary.
