Social bookmarking vs Directory submission

A while ago a lot of people were crazy about directory submission, however, recently social bookmarking has become more popular.
Which method do you prefer more?

Well, the both of one are truly awesome feature for effective link building. But I want to go for Social bookmarking because of it's one of most authentic off page SEO technique to getting more traffic to our site. It really improves the visibility of our site in search engine. By option, Social bookmarking really better than Directory Submission.

Social bookmarking and directory submission both are very good and beneficial link building techniques used in SEO and these both are very much needed for improving the rank for any website. In my opinion social bookmarking is useful for fast crawling and indexing of any webpage as it allows getting immediate back links in excess. These links help the website to be indexed in a very fast ways and so the ranking is also improved. In directory submission the link is not given immediately and it takes time as it require to be approved by the site admin, but once approved the link is permanent and is considered very much valuable as this is a approved link.

Social bookmarking and directory submission both are time consuming and boring link building method. As per me social bookmarking is much better or more preferable than Directory submission because of social bookmarking mostly all site give the approval after submission but in directory submission, most of the submission got into pending, only few of site approve instantly.
