There are many people who are saying that the whole matter of getting to submit our webs based sites on those directories is one of the things that could be deemed as the basic element of website management. I really think that it is a good thing these days to be really doing the submissions only to those sites that we believe are ranked highly. It will give our site the reputation of being a respectable site since it is linked to another directory that could be good enough. I have seen the power of DMOZ already and this is when I made those submissions to it in the past.

Yes you are vent percent correct. After the penguin update do directory submission only on high pr site or relevent site otherwise your site is penalise by Google.

Does the directory helps in increasing the page ranking? I had a directory with good pagerank and never tried to purchase featured links as usual. There were no change in the rank though there were not much change placed on the site.
