I've been fed up with my current virus scanner, Norton. I think it sucks. And I want to buy a new one :O what Virus Scan program do YOU have?

I got a used copy for $37.99 awhile ago. You can look it up on Amazon.com and get it for really cheap.

Did you recently have problems with a virus or something? I think that, if you are careful, the virus scanner would only be used as a back up.

Ew, used for 37.99? Bleh. Well hey, if its good... But meh. Any other suggestions?

Oh, and I did kinda run into a virus recently. I think I got it from some shady popup, or maybe it was my fiancee that did it. lol.

Thank you. I did not know there was a previous thread about the same topic. If I may expound on my previous posts, virus scans are one of many security options available to Internet users now - there's all kinds of software dealing with and aiming to solve various computer errors and glitches, spyware, and viruses. What security programs do you use?

I am not sure if I would want to go with a personal firewall. My confidence in the Windows Firewall has been shattered numerous times. I am not comfortable without having a program that would clean up potential threats and trackers.

Perhaps, Roogle, you have a good head on your shoulders. If you trust Symantec Antivirus, I should, too.

I don't have any anti-virus software installed.

But I also don't go to unknown sites. Most of the sites I visit on daily basis are my own. Plus the search engines. Moreover the virus is not going to get created itself on my hard drive so it doesn't matters to me.

Note: This is my scenario. Please don't take it as an advice not to use the anti-virus. Use it so save your PC and its data. I am just not bothered with the virus and anti-virus game. I don't want my PC to become a battle ground for them fighting against each other and wasting my resources.

That is a very good resource, nick.

I have found that some new viruses and trojans tend to circumvent the virus scanners because it can detect what is installed on your system, but, if you use an online virus scanner and scan a suspected file, it will be able to find the problem right away.

I recommend to everyone to learn and know that there are online virus scanners that can act as a primary virus scanner in a time of need.

nick,

Thanks a lot for that link.

My fiancee downloaded a suspicious file on our upstairs computer, and I hadn't gotten around to installing Symantec Antivirus on it. I was able to find out whether or not the file was infected or not because of your link, and knowing the computer upstairs, it probably saved it.

So you have a fiancee :crying:
Moreover you also have more then one computers :crying:
I also saw that you have two dogs.

You are making me jealous :embarrassed:

I only know AVG anti virus so I am using this. I don't know any other virus scanner software. I am using AVG last 1 year.

I m agree with AVG anti virus, but usually in my laptop i never install any anti virus.i didn't surf any unknown useless site.
