If a website starts getting a lot of direct traffic all of a sudden, does Google and other search engines tend to send even more traffic because of the increase in direct traffic?

Folks coming to your site by searching your URL, is what I mean by direct traffic. Spending time on the site as well not just pinging it.

posting unique comments on high quality blogs

I think Direct traffic is the one which comes when people type in your url and then come to your website.
Its not true that increase in such traffic will evaluate your other ranking as well.
