What is Canonical tag?

Hello Friends,

A rel canonical tag is a special tag that is inserted into the header of your HTML that helps communicate to search engine bots the relationship of that piece of content to others on your site. Canonical tags tell the search engine bots which pieces of content are the original or primary ones and which are duplicates. This way the bot will pass over the duplicates and only index and give link credit to the primary piece.

Thanks and Regards

Thanks for the information and yeah Canonical has another face too, what I mean is Canonical URLs. If there are two or more was we can visit a page meaning two different URLs then its called Canonicalisation to solve this we need to edit the .htaccess file in the toot directory if it does not have the file then we need to create it.

Duplicate Web pages often confuse search engines, forcing them to guess which one is most important for indexing and sometimes impacting the pages' rank within search results.
