What is Keyword Density?

In the context of search engine optimization keyword density can be used as a factor in determining whether a web page is relevant to a specified keyword or keyword phrase.

In search engine optimization (SEO) keyword density is the measurement in percentage of the number of times a particular keyword or phrase appears compared to the total number of words in a page.

James Donovan said:
Keyword density is the number of times a keyword is used on a web page in proportion with other words. You can calculate the keyword density of a particular text as:
keyword count/ total word count * 100.

Optimal keyword density ensures that your webpage will be ranked well for the targeted keywords.

As such, there is no fixed keyword density for any search engine. The idea is to use them in such a clever fashion that neither does it hinder readability or dilute the real message (as in the case of keyword stuffing), nor is it a case of under-utilization so that you don’t rank high on search results.

Nice and Descriptive answer...

Keyword density is percentage of times keyword appear in a content. We can calculate the keyword density by:

Keyword Density = (Nkr / Tkn) x 100

Where:

Density = your keyword density
Nkr = how many times you repeated a specific keyword
Tkn = total words in the analyzed text

Keyword density is the percentage of times a keyword or phrase appears on a web page compared to the total number of words on the page.

in my opinion Keyword density is the number of times a keyword is used on a web page in proportion with other words.
