hi guys, i have a forum that i have been running for a while. i thought it had great potential but no one really seems interested. compounding the problem i found that the site was making very little income and had a low click through rate on the ads so i lost my enthusiasm to post new things myself.

should i give up on this forum? or is there some avenues of marketing i am failing to exploit?

let us know what you think.

cheers, bubble :)

If you stick to the forum then it will be a better option then giving it up.

I think if you are getting frustrated then take a break and do some other work. Maybe you can pay some attention to other sites of yours.

During that time don't even look at your forum.

When you return you will have more ideas this time and more energy to do the marketing and promotion of the forums.

One more thing. You might want to see if your forum is well SEO optimized. If you have made backlinks for it. Or you can also try writing some articles related to your forum and then post them on the article repositories.

This will give you visitors and the backlinks from many sites.

People who syndicate your articles will be taking your links and pasting them on their own website which gives you more and more backlinks in future also.

There are still many ways. But I think doing the above mentioned things will get you started nicely.

thanks for the feedback nameslot,

having more backlinks is definitely something i have been slack on lately. i used to have some links from some of the big forums like digitalpoint etc and that got me a few members but i have not been posting on those sites for some time. the article idea is a good one. like you said, i need to gather up my motivation to have a good go of it. i think i will focus on my melbourne site for the next few months and then come back to the adsense one later.

cheers, bubble :)

Ive had those thoughts and my forum is only 40 days old!

Ive put so much hard work into everything, and it gets you down when you get hits but no members.

Im going to stick at it though :)

Starting is very hard. I actually started mine and then quit because it took too much. I restarted it about 6 months later and found some new things and now it's good.

Everyone still wants more members but that's just how it goes.
