i am hearing more and more stories and reading more posts everyday about php. the scripts that i have right now on the sites are also in php. but i don't know how to even move the banner. i have to pay $5 or $10 for that things also. so if someone could point me to the right way to learn atleast some basic php language then it would be great. let me know from where to get started.

A good place to start is http://www.w3schools.com/php/default.asp

Also I set up a default phpbb forum on one of my domains and just tinkered to see what actually changed when I changed things, a good way to put into practice what the pages above will tell you..

Hope this helps.

I knew nothing about PHP and my HTML skills were next to nothing.

I managed to set myself up a forum and just learnt by playing around with it.

I still dont fully understand PHP, but i know enough to get me by.

Same was with me. After reading some chapters I directly jumped in and started playing around with some scripts. I also started taking small projects on scriptlance. $2 and $5 projects. It gave me some confidence, some money and much needed experience.
