Incoming links can be broken into two types: unsolicited (organic or spontaneous) links, and solicited (or requested) links.

An unsolicited incoming link is one you didn't have to go and ask for - somebody saw your site and decided to link to it. A solicited incoming link is one you "asked" for, one that you had to take some action to obtain. This site generally focuses on solicited incoming links, since this is where your actions will have the most effect.

incoming links (also known as "inbound links") are links leading in to your site from other sites. Incoming links are the best types of link to get, from a marketing point of view, since they're offering you something for nothing in the form of free traffic and a boost in the search engines! Sites with a large number of relevant, on-topic incoming links are sometimes referred to as hub sites.

In case of unsolicited incoming link, any visitor sees your site, and just adds it as a link. On the other hand in solicited link, you have to ask the visitor to send link to it.

Incoming links are those that you will get through indirect way of linking. When somebody reach you website, read the contents and decide to link it, then it is called unsolicited incoming linking. A solicited incoming link is the one that you get when you "asked" for.

You can gain advantage of indirect linking way with the help of incoming links. It is important to decide on the particular link as well as read the contents too.

Inbound links can do amazing things for your website. Most people just think of links in terms of traffic, but other considerations may be even more valuable. Having links from other websites to yours is a critical part of search engine optimization.

Inbound links were originally important (prior to the emergence of search engines) as a primary means of web navigation; today, their significance lies in search engine optimization (SEO). The number of backlinks is one indication of the popularity or importance of that website or page (for example, this is used by Google to determine the PageRank of a webpage). Outside of SEO, the backlinks of a webpage may be of significant personal, cultural or semantic interest: they indicate who is paying attention to that page.

incoming links are more valuable towards link-building, linking to other topical and related sites also brings value to the site. Out-bound link building should be done very sparingly and only when linking to the external site brings information and value to the viewer.

Incoming links (links from other Web sites) drive more traffic to your site by increasing the number of paths to your site. In addition, they help you at the search engines.
